Biography

Gérard Bois has had a distinguished career as a professor, researcher, and administrator, having served as the director of research centers, head of the Presses de l’Université de Montréal, chair of the Department of Political Science, and dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. A renowned political scientist, he has conducted significant research in both Canadian and European studies. Bois was a visiting researcher at the European Studies Centre at Sciences Po in Paris and held the Chair in Canadian Studies at the Sorbonne. Since 2008, he has been one of the eight foreign experts on the scientific council of the Institut des Amériques, a French inter-university consortium of around fifty institutions. He played a key role in establishing the Érudit platform for the publication and distribution of scholarly journals. Bois has also advised on Canadian research data management as part of multiple committees and has contributed to the Canadian Digital Information Strategy, sponsored by Library and Archives Canada. An prolific author, his works have been published by various houses in Canada, Europe, and Mexico. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Sorbonne Paris Cité and of the Royal Society of Canada.
