Dr. Gérard Duhaime

Biography

Gérard Duhaime is a professor in the Department of Sociology at Laval University, specializing in the economic and social conditions of Indigenous populations and Arctic regions. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Laval University and has extensive experience in social research. Gérard is the holder of the Canada Research Chair in Comparative Indigenous Conditions and the Louis-Edmond Hamelin Chair of Northern Social Research. His teaching includes a master's seminar in Economic Sociology. His recent publications focus on material and symbolic living conditions, consumption, debt, and poverty among Arctic populations, contributing significantly to the understanding of socio-economic issues within these communities.
