Biography

Gerard Farrell graduated from Medical School at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1984. Since 1986, he has been dedicated to finding useful applications for computers in the area of medicine, achieving mixed success over 40 years. He serves as the Director of the eHealth Research Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University, where he investigates how computers can effectively be used in health education and care delivery. Additionally, he lectures in Medical Informatics across the Faculties of Medicine, Computer Science, and co-supervises graduate students from the fields of Computer Science, Medicine, and Pharmacy. He also holds the position of Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies for the Faculty of Medicine, overseeing the four-year MD Education Program. In his clinical practice, he works as a general practitioner, providing care primarily to cancer patients.
