Biography

Gérard Gaudet is an internationally recognized professor and researcher specializing in natural resource and environmental economics. He earned his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972. His research focuses on the analysis of natural resources, including oil and mineral reserves, forests, and the accumulation of greenhouse gases. Gaudet served as the Director of the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal, where he established the Workshop on Natural Resource and Environmental Economics to provide students with a platform to present their work. He has been a researcher at the Interuniversity Centre for Quantitative Economics Research (CIREQ) since 2000. Throughout his career, he has been a visiting professor and researcher at prestigious universities, contributed to numerous scientific journals, presided over the Canadian Economic Association (1983-1984) and the Canadian Association of Economics (2006-2007), and was elected a member of the Royal Society of Canada in 2005.
