Biography

Gerard Gorman is a Professor of Computational Science Engineering at Imperial College London, where he has held various academic roles since 2006. He was appointed as a Professor in 2023 after serving as a Reader from 2016 to 2022 and as a Senior Lecturer from 2013 to 2016. Gorman came to Imperial as a lecturer in 2008, and prior to that, he was a Research Fellow and Research Associate at the institution. He holds a PhD in Computational Science from Imperial College London, obtained in 2005, and has an MSc and BSc from the National University of Ireland Galway. He is also an Associate Director of the Centre for Computational Methods in Science Engineering. His work includes developing adaptive computational algorithms and optimization techniques for geophysical applications.
