Dr. Gerard Redmond

Biography

Gerard Redmond is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New South Wales, affiliated with the Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) and the Social Policy Research Centre. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences from Dublin, a Graduate Diploma in Computing, a Master of Arts from Bath, and a PhD from UNSW. With a strong academic background in sociology and social policy, Professor Redmond has conducted extensive research on child poverty and well-being, particularly focusing on Australia and other countries while emphasizing the material well-being and health of children. His previous roles include research positions at the UK Department of Social Security and the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre in Florence, where he researched children’s well-being in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Professor Redmond's research interests include the conceptualisation and measurement of child poverty and well-being, and he is an influential figure in studies related to children's development and outcomes.
