Biography

Gerard Rocher Ros's research centers on carbon cycling in river networks and their responses to climate change. Growing up in the Spanish Pyrenees, he developed a passion for nature that guided his studies in Environmental Science at the University of Barcelona. Following his undergraduate studies, he spent half a year at the Abisko Research Station in northern Sweden, where he became intrigued by Arctic ecosystems. After completing a Master's degree in Mathematical Modeling from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he returned to Umeå University for his Ph.D., focusing on carbon processing in Arctic river networks. Upon graduation in 2019, he continued as a postdoc, exploring the interplay between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and was involved in various research grants and projects. In 2022, he received a VR mobility grant to develop models on carbon processing in river networks at the Centre of Advanced Studies in Blanes, Spain.
