Gerd Hauck is a Professor Emeritus at Toronto Metropolitan University, previously known as Ryerson University. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and has an extensive academic background with degrees from the University of Cambridge and the University of Sussex. Before joining TMU in 2010, he served as Chair of the Department of Drama and Speech Communication at the University of Waterloo. In 2016, he became the Founding Director of the ESL Foundation Program at TMU, where he was responsible for developing a curriculum that welcomed international students and addressed their acculturation needs. Since stepping down from his directorship at the Real Institute in 2019, he has focused on teaching and collaborative research with colleagues in the Schools of Nursing and Professional Communication.
