Biography

Geri Augusto is a long-time scholar and activist navigating the intersections of politics, knowledge practices, and creative expression in the pursuit of equality and justice in diverse societies. She serves as a Senior Fellow in International Public Affairs and directs the Undergraduate Development Studies program at the Watson Institute. Augusto is also a faculty associate at Brown's Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice and an affiliate of the Africana Studies Department and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Her research interests include subjugated knowledge, global Black radicalism, and the transformation of higher education. Recently, she has been involved in initiatives related to indigenous knowledge systems and supports postgraduate students in African diasporic literatures and sustainable development. Augusto has worked on various public policy projects in South Africa related to science, technology, and education, advocating for the integration of indigenous knowledge into higher education.
