Biography

Gerlando Lima is a Teaching Associate Professor of Accountancy at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, having transitioned to this role in 2023 after serving as a Teaching Assistant Professor from 2019 to 2023 and Senior Lecturer from 2017 to 2019. He earned his Ph.D. in Accountancy from the University of Sao Paulo in 2007, following a Master’s in Accountancy from the same institution in 2005, and a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in 2002. Lima has held various academic positions, including Associate Chairman of the Department of Accountancy and Actuarial Science at the University of Sao Paulo and a visiting scholar. His research interests encompass Behavioral Accounting, Financial Accounting, and International Accounting, particularly relating to personality influences in the accounting field and situation comparisons between countries. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions, including Service Awards from the USP International Conference and several paper awards. Additionally, Lima is involved with the American Accounting Association, serving on the International Council.
