Biography

Gernot Weckherlin is an instructor at FU-BEST, Freie Universität Berlin. He studied architecture in Munich, London, and Briey-en-Forêt, becoming a chartered architect in Berlin in 2002. He has taught architectural history and theory at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Universität der Künste Berlin, and Beuth-Hochschule Berlin. Weckherlin writes for architectural magazines such as Architektenblatt, Bauwelt, and Deutsche Bauzeitung. His notable publications include "Architekturführer Thüringen 2: Vom Bauhaus bis heute" (2006), and contributions to various edited volumes focusing on structuralism and architectural design. He is a founding member of the Netzwerk Architekturwissenschaft and is involved in an interdisciplinary research group in architectural studies. Weckherlin is also a member of the German Studies Association and the DAAD Alumni-Network. Currently, he serves as a Visiting Professor of Architectural Theory at Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg.
