Biography

Gerry Boychuk is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo. He has specialized in Canadian politics, American politics, and Canadian-American political development. Boychuk served as the Chair of the Department of Political Science from 2012 to 2017 and was the Director of Global Governance Teaching Programs from 2008 to 2011. He has contributed extensively to public policy as a consultant for Human Resources Development Canada and Industry Canada, and has authored numerous research papers, including significant contributions to the Royal Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada. His selected publications include works analyzing the political economy and health care within Canada, as well as political suffrage movements. Currently, he is engaged in a SSHRC Insight Grant-supported monograph project focused on female suffrage in Northern Great Plains states and provinces from 1910 to 1918. Boychuk teaches various courses on American and Canadian politics at the university.
