Biography

Gerry Uswak received his DMD from the University of Manitoba in 1989, his MPH from the University of North Carolina in 1992, and a diploma in Dental Public Health from the North Carolina Division of Dental Health in 1993. He completed a General Practice Residency at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB, in 1990. Uswak joined the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan as an associate professor in 2005, and subsequently served as acting dean, holding the dean position starting in August 2017. He teaches dental practice management and maintains a dental public health consulting practice. His clinical work has included pediatric dentistry in hospital settings across locations in Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Bolivia. Prior to joining the college, Uswak was the CEO of the Inuvik Regional Health and Social Services Authority and has served as the past-president of the Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry. He is also a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
