Dr. Gert Sørensen

Biography

Gert Sørensen is an Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in political thinking, Italian history from the Renaissance to the present, and totalitarian regimes, particularly Fascism and its impacts. He has extensively studied the works of Antonio Gramsci, contributing to the discourse on politics and culture. His current research interests include the narrative historicity of the New Italian Epic, as well as Italian and European identity history. He teaches courses related to Italian history and culture, with a particular focus on Fascism and political figures such as Silvio Berlusconi. Throughout his career, Sørensen has published numerous lectures and articles, and he served as the co-editor for 'Piranesi: Italian Studies' and received awards for his contributions to Italian studies. Throughout his academic journey, he has held various prestigious research fellowships in Italy and has contributed significantly to the field through his engaging teaching methodologies and deep scholarly insights.
