Biography

Gertraud Burger is a full professor at the Université de Montréal, where she specializes in biochemistry and molecular medicine. She has a comprehensive educational background, holding a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biology, followed by a PhD and habilitation in Genetics and Microbiology from Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying eukaryotic cell functions, particularly in the context of genome evolution and the interactions between different life forms. In addition, she is actively involved in teaching and supervising graduate students in bioinformatics and biochemistry at UdeM. Her research contributions are recognized on national and international platforms, and she has been involved in various multidisciplinary collaborations. She has been a significant member of the Centre Robert-Cedergren at UdeM, spearheading research initiatives and fostering connections in bioinformatics and genomics.
