Gertruda (Greta) Evaristo is a double board certified Gastrointestinal and Liver pathologist with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Pathology. She received her MD degree from the University of Montreal after completing a Bachelor of Science with honors in Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University. She returned to McGill to complete her residency in anatomical pathology and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Gastrointestinal & Hepatic pathology at the University of Chicago under the guidance of Dr. John Hart. Her primary academic interests include hepatobiliary and gastroesophageal neoplasms and medical liver pathology. Dr. Evaristo is particularly engaged in medical education, currently directing the GI & Liver Pathology Fellowship at McGill. She actively serves on committees such as the Education Committee and CME Subcommittee for the USCAP and as a House Delegate for the College of American Pathologists. Her current research focuses on the clinicopathologic molecular characterization of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary neoplasms and the integration of molecular pathology with biomedical engineering and biostatistics, studying the clonal relatedness of gastrointestinal hepatopancreaticobiliary neoplasms and applying clinical decision support algorithms and artificial intelligence to characterize inflammatory liver diseases.
