Dr. Geza Benke

Biography

Geza Benke is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University with a background in Occupational Hygiene. He graduated with a degree in physics in 1978 from the University of Melbourne, later completing a Master of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering and a PhD in Epidemiology. He has worked extensively with state government on occupational health and safety consulting and has served as the Radiation Protection Officer at Monash University since 1992. Geza was appointed as a Research Fellow in the Unit of Occupational Environmental Health in 1994, where he contributed to significant studies including Healthwise, Lead Cancer, Morpheus, INTEROCC, and ECRHS. His research interests focus on occupational and environmental epidemiology, exposure assessment, methodology, occupational cancer, and respiratory epidemiology. Geza is also actively involved in the academic community as the President of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists and engages in projects related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, contributing to the global efforts to address public health and environmental challenges.
