Biography

Giacomo Gavelli is a Ph.D. student in Mathematics at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. His research interests focus on Harmonic Analysis and Hyperbolic Geometry, specifically the spectral geometric properties of locally symmetric spaces with large volume, especially hyperbolic surfaces. He commenced his PhD studies in October 2023 after completing his master's program at the University of Bologna in March 2023. His master thesis, titled 'Gromov-hyperbolicity of strictly pseudoconvex domains and applications', was co-supervised by Prof. Irina Markina from the University of Bergen and Prof. Loredana Lanzani from the University of Bologna. Gavelli has contributed to multiple publications including 'Benjamini-Schramm vs Plancherel convergence' in Documenta Mathematica and has participated in various invited and contributed talks at prestigious institutions like ETH Zurich and the University of Bologna.
