Biography

Giacomo Nannicini is an Associate Professor in the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. His main research and teaching interests broadly encompass optimization, including algorithm development, software models, computational methods, and quantum computing. He obtained his PhD from Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France. Prior to joining USC, Professor Nannicini worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management. Additionally, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design in the Engineering Systems and Design pillar, and he was involved in the quantum algorithms group at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. His achievements include receiving the 2021 Beale–Orchard-Hays Prize, the 2021 IEEE QCE Paper Award in the quantum algorithms track, the 2016 COIN-OR Cup, the 2015 Robert Faure Prize, and the 2012 Glover-Klingman Prize.
