Giacomo graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He pursued a PhD studying the vibroacoustic properties of grand piano soundboards. Since joining the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton in 2012 as a research fellow, he has contributed to the EU project Acoutrain. In 2015, he became a New Frontiers Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering and has progressed from lecturer to Associate Professor by 2023.
