Biography

Gianluca Iaccarino is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. He holds the Robert Bosch Chair and has been part of the faculty since 2007 after completing his PhD at the Politecnico di Bari in Italy in 2005. Iaccarino is also the director of the Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program (PSAAP) at Stanford, a research center focused on multiphysics simulations and uncertainty quantification in exascale computing, funded by the Department of Energy. His significant accomplishments include receiving the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 2010 and various paper awards at AIAA and ASME conferences during his career. Iaccarino's research interests encompass the use of computing data in solving energy, biomedicine, aerodynamics, and propulsion problems. He is also involved in teaching and has designed new courses to introduce students to computational engineering topics.
