Biography

Gijs Krijnen is a Full Professor at the University of Twente, leading the MEMS-Design chair within the Electrical Engineering department. He received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with honors from the University of Twente and completed his Ph.D. thesis on nonlinear integrated optics devices, awarded the Veder prize by the Dutch Electronics Radio Engineering Society in 1993. Since 1998, he has played a significant role in the development of micro-actuator research within the Transducers Science Technology group at the MESA+ research institute. His work includes innovative projects funded by the NWO, such as BioEARS, which emphasizes the design of bioinspired transducers and the application of machine learning for material properties in sensing technologies. He has published extensively and holds a leadership position within the research community, contributing to advancements in MEMS and additive manufacturing.
