Biography

Gilbert Moeckel is a professor of pathology at Yale School of Medicine and serves as the director of the Renal Pathology Electron Microscopy Laboratory. He graduated magna cum laude from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. He completed his MD and PhD there and later trained in anatomic clinical pathology at the University of Arizona. Prior to his current position, he was on the faculty at Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on clinical renal pathology and the mechanisms of kidney injury, repair, and the progression of chronic kidney disease. Dr. Moeckel has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has received both private and federal grants to support his research endeavors. Additionally, he is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology.
