Dr. Gilles Dupuis

Biography

Gilles Dupuis is an Associate Professor in the Department of French Language Literatures at the University of Montreal, where he has been teaching since 2001. He previously served as the director of the Interuniversity Research Centre on Quebec Literature and Culture (CRILCQ), focusing on projects related to diversity, difference, and migration. Throughout his career, he has closely collaborated with graduate students, supervising numerous doctoral theses on themes of diversity in Europe and Quebec. His extensive relationships with scholars like Klaus-Dieter Ertler from the University of Graz and Alessandra Ferraro of the University of Udine facilitate cross-border academic exchanges and collaboration in the field of migrant literature. Dupuis has made substantial contributions to understanding the impact of migrant writers on the literary canon and the evolution of literary practices in Francophone Canada. With significant research funding and numerous publications, his work encompasses the analysis of migration, interculturalism, transculturalism, and recent explorations of terrorism in Canadian French literature. He is recognized for advancing critical concepts within these fields and has consistently engaged audiences through scholarly lectures and articles in reputable journals.
