Graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, Gilles Fecteau completed a clinical internship in medicine and bovine surgery in 1987. After three years as a clinical training officer at FMV, he completed a residency program in internal medicine at the University of Davis in California. In 1993, he obtained Diplomate status from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). He is currently a full professor at the Department of Clinical Sciences at FMV in St-Hyacinthe. He received the Pfizer Award for Excellence in Research in 1999 and 2020 and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Montreal in 2003 and 2021. Primarily a clinician, Dr. Fecteau's research interests focus on infectious diseases in dairy cattle, and he has supervised the investigation and description of new syndromes affecting cattle.
