Biography

Gillian Shaffer Lutsko is a lecturer at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Architecture. She is a Citizen Architect Fellow and the founder of the architecture studio, sl Collective. Her design and research interests revolve around how architecture can address major contemporary issues including the ongoing climate crisis, cultural identities, economic inequity, and the impacts of new technologies on society and visual media. Lutsko's work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts and has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and the Seoul International Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism. She has contributed to various publications such as Project Journal of Architecture, CARTHA, POOL Magazine, and Pidgin. Before joining USC, she worked in architectural firms in Berlin, Tokyo, Boston, and New York City. Lutsko teaches courses that focus on understanding the relationship between materials, construction techniques, and architectural design. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute and a Master of Architecture II from Princeton University.
