Biography

Gillian Sze is an accomplished author of multiple poetry collections including "Peeling Rambutan," "Redrafting Winter," and "Panicle." Her book "Quiet Night Think" received the 2023 Pat Lowther Memorial Award and was shortlisted for the Quebec Writers' Federation's M. Klein Prize for Poetry. Her latest work, "Orange, Syllable," is poised to receive the M. Klein Prize for Poetry in 2025. Gillian has also authored six children's books, with her debut picture book "Night Deep Wide" recognized as one of the New York Public Library's Best Books for Kids in 2021. Her literary contributions have been translated into several languages including Slovenian, French, Italian, Turkish, Hebrew, Spanish, and Greek. Gillian is an Assistant Professor at Concordia University, involved in fostering creative writing and poetry education. She actively participates in various literary festivals and is engaged in discussions related to anti-Asian racism as part of her university's diversity initiatives.
