Professor Dr. Gina Brelsford

Biography

Gina M. Brelsford is a Professor of Psychology at Penn State Harrisburg and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with children and families. She has an active research agenda related to the intersection of psychology, religion, and spirituality, particularly as it pertains to interpersonal relationships and family dynamics within the context of Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Her research includes various funded projects aimed at understanding how secular and religious coping mechanisms relate to both interpersonal and intrapersonal functioning in community and clinical settings. Additionally, her work incorporates elements of positive psychology, focusing on concepts such as gratitude, life satisfaction, and meaning-making, often integrated with cognitive-behavioral therapy targeted at children and adolescents.
