Biography

Professor Giovanna Tinetti is the Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences at King's College London. She is also a Principal Investigator for the European Space Agency's Ariel mission, which aims to undertake a comprehensive survey of exoplanets in a variety of environments with a launch planned for 2029. Tinetti is a co-founder and co-director of the London Centre for Space Exochemistry Data and also of Blue Skies Space Ltd, which develops a new class of satellites for high-quality data provision to the global scientific community. She received her PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Turin and has previously worked at the Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Institute of Astrophysics in Paris. Tinetti has authored or co-authored around 300 research publications and has delivered over 350 talks internationally. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the Sir Arthur Clarke Award and the Knight of the Order of Merit from the Italian Republic.
