Biography

Giovanni Balestra graduated in 1990 from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (dipl.ETH-Z) and is the owner of the architectural studio Balestra in Bellinzona Bigorio. From 1984 to 1991, he trained and worked at Aurelio Galfetti's studio in Bellinzona. His research interests focus on the teaching of digital print architecture, exploring the implementation of new technologies in the representation of projects within digital environments. Balestra has been a lecturer at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) since November 1999, specializing in Digital Representation for Bachelor's programs and Advanced Digital Representation for Master's programs. In 2021, he received recognition as an Academic Partner from EPIC Games, marking him as the first in Switzerland to achieve this distinction. His expertise spans 3D modeling, architectural design, digital representation, and project simulation animation.
