Dr. Giovanni De Micheli

Biography

Giovanni De Micheli is a research scientist in the field of electronics and computer science, recognized for his pioneering work in Network on Chip design and the creation of design automation paradigms. He currently serves as the Scientific Director of the EcoCloud Center at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he leads initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable computation and energy-efficient data centers. He has held various prestigious positions at EPFL, including being the director of the LSI Laboratory and the Electrical Engineering Institute, as well as leading the Swiss Federal Nano-Tera program. De Micheli holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. His current research interests encompass design technologies for integrated circuits and systems, particularly in the context of heterogeneous platforms and biosensors for biomedical information processing. He is an accomplished author with over 1,000 technical publications, including numerous books and articles, and has received several prestigious awards in recognition of his contributions to the field, such as the IEEE Gustav Kirchhoff Award and the ACM/SIGDA Pioneering Achievement Award.
