Dr. Giovanni Pellegrino

Biography

Giovanni Pellegrino is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at Western University. He trained as a Medical Doctor and Neurologist at Campus Biomedico University of Rome in Italy. Dr. Pellegrino developed a keen interest in multimodal neuroimaging and non-invasive brain stimulation, particularly in relation to neurological disorders such as epilepsy. To further his expertise, he spent time at the Danish Research Center for Magnetic Resonance in Copenhagen, and later at McGill University's Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, where he completed his clinical research fellowship in Epileptology and EEG. In 2021, he earned his PhD in Translational Specialistic Medicine – Neuroscience from the University of Padua in Italy, which led to his Habilitation as an Associate Professor in Neurology. Dr. Pellegrino's research is primarily focused on improving epilepsy care through advanced methodologies. He is a member of the Western Neuroscience Program and has cross-appointments in the Department of Medical Biophysics. With over 80 peer-reviewed publications to his name, he serves on the editorial board of multiple peer-review journals and was elected as a Fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. His ongoing research remains dedicated to enhancing clinical outcomes for patients with epilepsy through innovative neuroimaging and brain stimulation techniques.
