Dr. Giovanni Pica

Biography

Giovanni Pica is a professor of economics at the Institute of Economic Studies at Università della Svizzera italiana. He holds a Ph.D. from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and has previously held positions at the University of Southampton, University of Salerno, and the University of Milan. Pica is affiliated with several research organizations, including Centro Studi Luca D'Agliano, CSEF, and fRDB. His research focuses on labor market effects of financial market imperfections, globalization, and labor market institutions. He is currently investigating the role of internal capital labor markets in organizations and the effects of non-tariff measures on the behavior of firms, as well as issues related to occupational licensing. Pica's work has been published in prominent academic journals, including the Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of the European Economic Association, and Journal of International Economics. He specializes in Applied Economics, Labor Economics, and the analysis of gender disparities in the labor market.
