Dr. Giovanni Ramos

Biography

Giovanni (Gio) Ramos earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed his clinical internship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. He joined the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley after serving as a Chancellor’s Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Irvine, and as an NIH T32 PRISE Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. His research focuses on advancing mental health equity for racially and ethnically minoritized populations, with a particular emphasis on Latinx groups. To achieve this goal, his work concentrates on three interconnected areas: identifying risk and resilience factors that influence the mental health of marginalized groups, enhancing the cultural and contextual fit of evidence-based treatments through data-driven cultural adaptations and implementation strategies, and utilizing digital tools to increase access to mental health services.
