Gisele De Faria Neiva graduated from the Federal University of Paraná School of Dentistry in Brazil in 1991. She holds two master's degrees: in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry obtained in 1997 and in Clinical Research Design & Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2005. With over 20 years of experience in clinical laboratory research, Dr. Neiva's initial work focused on laboratory materials testing, with studies on composite resins, resin cements, and dental ceramics, which have led to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. For the past seven years, she has been involved in large randomized clinical trials related to CAD/CAM digital dentistry technology applied to restorative dentistry. Currently, her clinical research projects include randomized longitudinal studies of chair-side CAD/CAM generated ceramic onlays and crowns, as well as novel ceramic materials and adhesive cements. She is also documenting data on restorations previously placed using the USPHS criteria and studying the in vitro surface roughness of chairside CAD/CAM restoration materials.
