Dr. Giulia Messina Dahlberg

Biography

Giulia Messina Dahlberg is an Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Education and Special Education. She began her career as an upper-secondary school teacher in Falun, Sweden, before transitioning to university teaching and research. Giulia’s research interests focus on the interconnected areas of transitions in education, technology-mediated and data-driven educational practices, and the diversity and inclusion of language and culture in educational policies. She has conducted significant research into how educational institutions can either support or hinder meaningful interaction and participation in learning environments. Her recent work includes the YRKSIM project, which examines the use of digital driving simulators to enhance vocational students' practical skills. Giulia has also led various projects focused on data-driven service development and adult education in collaboration with the Swedish Migration Agency. As an educator, she prioritizes creating inclusive and challenging learning environments, integrating reflective practices into her course designs and supervising students at both the Bachelor and Master levels. In addition, she has contributed extensively to doctoral education and engaged with various international research platforms on educational practices and policies.
