Biography

Giulia Mugellini is a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the Università della Svizzera italiana, working in the Faculty of Communication Sciences since September 2016. Her research focuses on measuring corruption, transparency in public administration, impact assessments, and public service users’ satisfaction, as well as the evaluation of anti-corruption policies. With ten years of expertise in field research, she has benefited from experiences at an academic level with international organizations. She has worked on national and international projects analyzing perceptions and experiences related to corruption and transparency issues for individuals and businesses, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, European Commission, and United Nations. In 2011, she served as an external consultant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on projects related to measuring corruption and economic crime. Giulia has edited books and published several scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, as well as chapters in academic books published by leading houses including SAGE, Springer, and Palgrave Macmillan. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology from the Catholic University of Milan, an M.A. in Applied Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Milan, and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Bologna. Prior to joining USI, she worked as a researcher in social sciences and criminology at the University of Zurich and the University of St. Gallen. She has cooperated with various international research centers and organizations.
