Dr. Giulia Muraca

Biography

Giulia Muraca is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University. She holds a B.Sc. in Biological Anthropology and African Studies from the University of Toronto and completed her M.P.H. and Ph.D. at the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. Her doctoral research utilized population-based data to characterize maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality related to deliveries requiring obstetrical interventions. Dr. Muraca has a strong commitment to research and education in public health, particularly focusing on maternal and child health. She has collaborated with various institutions, including an adjunct scientist position at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and as an affiliated faculty member at Karolinska Institute. Her postdoctoral training involved Perinatal Epidemiology at the Clinical Epidemiology Unit at Karolinska Institutet. Dr. Muraca is known for her dedication to improving health outcomes through rigorous scientific inquiry and community engagement.
