Biography

Giulia Scotto is an architect and urban researcher based at the Landscape Urban Studies Institute (ISUP) at Università della Svizzera italiana. She received her PhD in urban studies from the University of Basel in 2022, focusing on infrastructural expansion related to the ENI, the Italian national hydrocarbon agency, in post-independence sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, she is coordinating an SNSF project titled "Codes Conventions Future Zurich: Propositional Planning Approach to Qualitative Densification" and is a visiting postdoc at the Chair of History and Theory of Urban Design at ETH Zurich. Her research interests include urban studies, the impact of infrastructure on borders and territories, and postcolonial logistics, and she has published several works addressing these themes, such as her contributions in various collected volumes and journals related to global petroleum space and the politics of infrastructure.
