Biography

Giulia Zanetti graduated from Padova University and obtained her PhD at Oxford University. She has worked extensively on cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) to study viral glycoproteins. Following her PhD, she undertook a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Randy Schekman at Berkeley, USA, where she applied cryo-ET to investigate coat proteins involved in endoplasmic reticulum exit. In 2014, she established her own laboratory with the support of the Dorothy Hodgkin Career Development Fellowship from the Royal Society. Her lab focuses on studying the structural organization of the early secretory pathway using cryo-imaging techniques across a range of scales. Currently, she holds the position of Professor at University College London in the Department of Structural and Molecular Biology, as well as serving as a group leader at the Francis Crick Institute in London.
