Dr. Giuliano Masiero

Biography

Giuliano Masiero is an Associate Professor at Università della Svizzera italiana. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of York in the UK and a doctorate in Economics from the University of Ancona. His national scientific qualification is for the position of full professor in public economics. He is currently teaching health public economics and market regulation in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses while collaborating with the University of Lugano (USI). Previously, he worked with the Centre for Health Economics for the Review of Dissemination in York and the European Surveillance of Antimicrobial Consumption in Antwerp. His research and teaching experiences include positions at the University of Milan and the Catholic University in Rome. He has published several scientific papers in leading health economics policy journals and has received funding from the European Commission and the Swiss National Science Foundation (FNS). His main research interests include health public economics, focusing on regulatory policy aspects and the application of econometric methods. His past research notably addressed primary care markets, patient choice, and the economics of antibiotics and bacterial resistance, studying consumption determinants and rational behavior intervention policies. He has also researched the economic impacts of natural disasters and environmental health issues.
