Professor Dr. Giulio Bianchi Piccinini

Biography

Giulio Bianchi Piccinini is an associate professor responsible for the Human Factors Data Analytics Traffic group at Aalborg University. He completed his Master's degree in Automotive Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin and earned his PhD in Transportation Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Before joining AAU, Giulio worked for nine years in the Crash Analysis Prevention group at Chalmers University of Technology. His research primarily focuses on traffic safety, particularly in understanding crash causation mechanisms involving various road users. He employs methodologies such as expert assessment and quantitative analysis of real-world data, including video images and kinematic variables. He is actively involved in teaching, supervising students in Civil Engineering and Traffic programs, and is creating a new industrial master's program in Sustainable Road Transportation. Additionally, Giulio serves on the editorial boards of journals and participates in various committees related to human factors and traffic safety research.
