Biography

Giulio Dagnino is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, focusing on Medical Robotics. His research interests include MRI-guided robotics and endoluminal interventions. Working closely with clinicians, Giulio aims to develop novel technologies that improve current medical procedures and enhance treatment and diagnosis. His overall objective is to provide information and support to surgical teams to produce better outcomes and improve the quality of life for patients. Giulio received his MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Genoa, Italy, in 2007, and completed his PhD in Medical Robotics at the Italian Institute of Technology in 2013, with a dissertation on new technologies for robot-assisted laser microsurgery. Following his doctoral studies, Giulio worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory in the UK, focusing on robot-assisted fracture surgery (RAFS) from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, he joined the Hamlyn Centre at Imperial College London, where he was part of a team that developed an MR-safe robotic platform for endovascular interventions.
