Biography

Giuseppe Arbia is a Professor of Economic Statistics at the Università della Svizzera italiana. He graduated in Statistics from the University La Sapienza in Rome and received his PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Trento and held professorships in Economic Statistics at the University of Padua and Statistics at the University 'G. d'Annunzio' Pescara. He has been a Visiting Professor at numerous prestigious institutions including the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In July 2014, he became an Honorary Research Professor at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. His research focuses on Spatial Statistics and Spatial Econometrics, with over four published books and more than 150 articles in academic journals. Arbia is an active member of several scientific societies, including the International Statistical Institute and the American Statistical Association. He has served on editorial boards and held directorial roles at various academic departments.
