Biography

Giuseppe De Giacomo is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and a Governing Body Fellow at Green Templeton College. His research focuses on theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, specifically in Knowledge Representation, Reasoning Actions, Generalized Planning, Autonomous Agents, Reactive Synthesis Verification, Service Composition, and Business Process Modeling. De Giacomo has previously served as a professor at the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering at the University of Roma 'La Sapienza'. He is a recipient of the European Research Council Advanced Grant for the project WhiteMech, investigating white-box self-programming mechanisms. He is an elected Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the European Association for Artificial Intelligence. De Giacomo has held various leadership roles, including Program Chair for the European Conference on Artificial Intelligence in 2020 and serving on the board of EurAI while chairing its steering committee for the annual summer school ESSAI.
