Biography

Giuseppe De Giacomo is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and a Governing Body Fellow at Green Templeton College. His research focuses on theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science, prominently in the areas of Knowledge Representation, Reasoning with Actions, Generalized Planning, Autonomous Agents, Reactive Synthesis, Verification, Service Composition, Business Process Modeling, and Data Management Integration. An AAAI Fellow, ACM Fellow, and EurAI Fellow, he has received the ERC Advanced Grant for the project WhiteMech, which investigates white-box self-programming mechanisms. Previously, he held a professorship at the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering at the University of Roma 'La Sapienza'. De Giacomo has played significant roles in multiple academic boards, including as Program Chair for ECAI 2020 and KR 2014, and chairs the steering committee for the new EurAI yearly summer school.
