Biography

Giuseppe Richeri is a full professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana, where he has been teaching since 1996. He is the director of the Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG) as well as the Observatory on China Media. His courses include History and Theory of Communication, Politics and Economics of Communications, and Strategy and Marketing of New Media. He serves as a PhD supervisor at the Communication University of China in Beijing. Richeri has held various roles, including Dean of the Faculty during the 2004-2006 and 2006-2008 terms. His academic background includes a degree in Economics and Commerce from the University of Pavia obtained in 1971, after which he undertook research and consultancy in communications for various Italian and international institutions, including UNESCO and the European Broadcasting Union. He has taught at several universities across France, Spain, and Italy. Richeri has authored or edited 16 books and over 100 essays on communication and media issues, which have been translated and published in multiple countries. Other notable roles include consulting for the European Broadcasting Union and various ministerial commissions in Italy. He is also a member of the editorial boards of several leading academic journals in the field of communications.
