Biography

Giuseppina Gemboni joined the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics in 2024. She enjoys engaging students in exploring the richness of Italian language, culture, cinema, and history. Gemboni holds a Ph.D. in Romance Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and several master's degrees from universities in Italy. She is passionate about bringing knowledge and experiences into the classroom, helping students move beyond textbooks and stereotypes to discover the multifaceted nature of Italian studies while learning diverse perspectives. At Carnegie Mellon University, Gemboni contributes to interdisciplinary research and teaching, working alongside colleagues in LCAL. She aims to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment in her courses that inspires curiosity and critical thinking. At LCAL, she serves as the coordinator and advisor for the Italian Studies program.
