Professor Dr. Giuseppina Silvestri

Biography

Giuseppina Silvestri is a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. in 2013 from the University of Pisa. Her primary research interests lie in comparative historical linguistics, with a focus on Indo-European and Romance languages. Specifically, she explores morpho-syntactic variation in Italo-Romance languages and Greek varieties. Her work also addresses theoretical syntax from a parametric perspective, glotto-genetics, and the intersection of phonology and syntax, particularly issues related to the phonology-syntax interface, such as RF, propagation, and metaphony. Additionally, she investigates topics concerning the syntax-semantics interface, including syntactic reduplication and free relatives.
