Dr. Glen Cooper

Biography

Glen Cooper is a Reader in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester. He completed his postgraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering Design and obtained his PhD in Design of Reliable Systems, which was funded through a joint initiative by EPSRC and Volvo Cars. Glen's career began at the University of Sheffield as a Research Assistant, focusing on biomechanics to improve ambulance stretcher performance. His growing interest in bioengineering led him to the University of Salford, where he worked on developing rehabilitation aids for stroke patients. Glen then joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a Senior Lecturer, teaching subjects such as structures and finite element analysis while leading a bioengineering research group. His research focuses on understanding medical challenges and developing innovative measurement techniques, with particular attention to biomechanics related to diabetes and stroke. Glen is affiliated with the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology and is active in numerous collaborations related to medical device development and biomechanics.
